Noir cashmere for lips The moment Velvet Rope silkily slithers across your lips, casually leaving a deep berry saturated kiss, is when you've experienced lipstick luxury. Her weighty art deco gold casing wouldn't look out of place in the hands of femme fatales, Joan Crawford, Marlene Dietrich or Barbara Stanwyck, but it is made for the modern vamp. Needing no lipliner, it can be applied straight from the bullet, bleeding a thing of the past and encouraging a future filled with darkly delicious adventure. September 14, 2014
Deep scarlet sophistication at your fingertips! I bought Lipstick Queen 'Velvet Rope' lipstick in 'Black Tie', and it has swiftly become the most cherished red lipstick in my collection, usurping all others! The shade is a gorgeous deep cherry, which would flatter a multitude of skintones (I myself am a mid-toned honey, being of South Asian descent). Be warned though, it is very much a vibrant, show-stopping kind of red- the kind of red you would wear to an elegant evening with friends or a partner, rather than at an office lunch! The texture is smooth and creamy, without a hint of dryness- there's certainly no need for lip balm, but due to the creaminess, a lip balm is most definitely required, followed by careful blotting. The packaging is perhaps a little excessive, though this may reflect my dislike for yellow gold- it is a little too easy to see fingerprints and the various marks that inevitably collect upon items constantly in contact with hands! It's easy to use, however, and simply glides on, granting you complete control. All in all? Perfect. Well worth the price- Lipstick Queen has yet to disappoint me. September 14, 2014
amazing lipstick--a few caveats This color (Brat Pack) is the perfect "neutral" red. I am a fair skinned brunette with slightly yellow undertones and it is very flattering to my coloring. I feel gorgeous when I wear it! The lipstick itself slides on like lip balm and feels moisturizing, but it really does stay on for hours. I would recommend not wearing this to eat pizza (duh, silly me), as it did not stand up to the grease, but every other meal and drink I've had has barely budged it. I also recommend exfoliating your lips and applying a thin layer of balm before wearing as it does have a tendency to show flakiness and settle into lines (like any matte lipstick). I also find it works best to let it "set" for ten or fifteen minutes before eating or drinking anything. I was really hesitant to spend this much money on a lipstick, but I do think it is worth the price. Now I want to get Black Tie as well--I had such a hard time deciding between the two!
